Village Facts
The village is situated in Täby, north of Stockholm, surrounded by beautiful nature at
Rönninge Lake's eastern shore. The area has been inhabited for thousands of years.
Todays "Norr- and Södergårdar" (north- and south farmyards) date back to the 17th century
when they were tenant farms under Rydboholm where the Brahefamily kept court.
To visit us is to feel history's wingbeats and feel relaxation and possibilities
in the countryside in a genuine farmingvillage with all the accompanying animals.
All this, and much more, only a hay-cart away from the big city.
We offer you rich possibilities to combine business with pleasure in a unique environment.
History
There are ancient residuals from the younger Iron Age (year 550 -1050 AD)
Three stonecircles are situated north, east and south of the village.
When the rising of the land in the 7th-century made it impossible to sail
into the Rönninge Lake from Värtan the newbuilders could make a home for
themselves on the meadows of the shores.
It is believed that they called themselves "rydhningar". This gave rise to the
name Rydhninge, later Rithninge and finally Rönninge.
On Skansberget, about 500 meters north of the village, there
are residuals of a stronghold built around 500 AD.
It is speculated whether it actually was a stronghold for defence or
if it really was a place of sacrifice as close as possible to the
gods of those days.
